Resale License When Buying Wholesale
If you attempt to make wholesale purchases for your business, the seller may ask for your wholesale or resale license number. Oregon does not have either a wholesale or a resale license. The number generally accepted for use as a wholesale or resale number in Oregon is the eight-digit Business Registry Number assigned when you register an assumed business name or a business entity with the Corporation Division.
The Department of Revenue has created a website for questions about sales tax information that includes a self-authenticating "Resale Certificate". Business owners may use this certificate for buying wholesale or for exemption of sales taxes on goods purchased in another state. Visit oregon.gov to generate a "Resale Certificate".
